Background: J. ONE was founded by Ha Ji-Won, she is an award winning actress. She had a vision in mind; and that vision was a line in which women could save time in the morning while not compromising on serious skincare. The one item many of you might have seen is the J. ONE Jelly Pack. The sister to the Black Jelly Pack; they do perform very differently. You see the white bottle is meant more for day use, it truly grips makeup so it stays in place and does not budge. While the Black one is used in the evenings for hydration, nourishment, and providing a sense of glow. Here within the United States one of the places I have seen this product is at Sephora. They carry both Jelly Packs, and carry two of their moisturizers. While on other retailers like Glow Recipe we can see they too have a cleanser, and the two-step masks.
What is a sleeping pack? you ask… This item is classified as a sleeping pack by many. This term sleeping pack is very popular in South Korea, and if you’re not familiar then perhaps you’ve heard of them by the term of sleeping masks. Anyway, sleeping packs are used in place of a moisturizer, it too should be your last step in your routine. This is a result of how intensely hydrating most packs are. They are meant to intensely hydrate the skin while you Zzzz… you can use a moisturizer 1 to 2 times a week. But if you’re like me, and a rule breaker than you can use it every night alternating when needed.
Thoughts: I purchased this item back on June 29th, 2017. I remember the date vividly, since it was the day after my 21st birthday. We decided to check out the Sephora in the Caesars Palace, and there I ran into a woman who worked for Eve Lom, boy was she a gem. She was so sweet and caring. She recommend to me the Rescue Mask from the brand (a product I LOVE). I then looked at the K-beauty section at Sephora while it is small; there are still a few things which caught my eye. The black little bottle gleamed. My eyes so drawn to it, much like a moth to a flame. I picked up the box and flipped it around to check the ingredients list. This is something which I do with almost all of my products. There was Niacinimide, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Adenosine, Tripeptide-5, plus some really good antioxidant rich fruit extracts. I immediately chucked it in my basket. My mom always guilts me into not purchasing more products, I mean I have boxes full of it. Yet this time she was rather supportive. I wasn’t sure if it was more because my birthday was yesterday or if she wanted to head out and check out a few slot machines (I mean Vegas does have some good gambling). I scooped up a lot of new products. This was one of them which made the trek back with me to San Francisco. I had never owned a sleeping pack. I understood what it was, and how to use it. I was a bit skeptical. That was due to the fact when I pumped some of the product out it was a dark purplish hued gel. I was bamboozled or so I thought. I kept thinking how this gel would provide enough moisture. Most moisturizer we attribute intensely hydrating are thick creams and very occlusive, not really gels. I would then be converted into a believer in the potency of this sort of product. Two pumps is what I used, I smoothed this all over my face and let it slowly but surely absorb into the skin. My skin would drink this up, as if it was deprived of moisture. I would awaken the next day to nice and plump skin, it was glowy; and not oily whatsoever. Okay okay… I thought, maybe over time my skin will remain this plump and hydrated. Over the course of several months, I would use this quite often, and I felt it was providing what it said it would. On the nights in where I did not use it, my skin would look it and feel it in the morning. It was still hydrated and such; but it was not as if I had used my J. One Sleeping pack. I think that extra shot of hydration was great since the skin needs as much nourishment and hydration as possible. I’m a clear proponent of moisture and hydration. Many people think that only dry skin needs moisture. Well, I love being the bearer of bad news, oily skin needs it very much. When Oily skin is dehydrated (dehydration is a skin condition, not a skin type) from lack of moisture, we see more of a production of oil. That production is produced for the lack of moisture. More oil being produced tends to contribute to more acne. When oily skin is hydrated and moist, then we see more of a balance and the skin does not need to secrete as much sebum, and oil.
Ingredients:
We see this lovely sleeping pack filled with great ingredients. For starters, Niacinimide: this ingredient is found in so many Korean products. It too has recently been found in more and more American based products (IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!!!!). The ingredient itself is known to have skin beneficial powers. An example, is the contribution to reducing the appearance of enlarged pores. It too helped facilitate the evening of ones skin tone. But is a prized skin restoring ingredient. Adenosine, is naturally found in our bodies. It is extracted from Yeast; and is believed to be a great anti-wrinkle ingredient. Yet the inclusion of Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 is what did it for me. While it is fairly low on the ingredient list, this ingredient is one to watch out for. That is due to it being able to reach our Epidermis, but it goes even further down into the Dermis. Collagen production is jumpstarted, it too helps speed up the process of the production of Collagen. There to have been studies to show this PEPTIDE has abilities to communicate with our own cells to prevent toxins from damaging our skin. Proline is essential for Collagen, yet it too has anti-aging properties. Black Currant, Blackberries, Black Cumin Seed, Truffle, Black Bee Propolis, and Black Pearl extract are what gives the dark hue. The propolis has many uses, and that is because it harbors so many different properties. It contains anti-bacterial, anti-viral, moisturizing, free-radical fighting, and helps with oil production. My favorite ingredient to look for is Hyaluronic Acid, which is has Hydrolyzed. It is awesome in the hydration department. We all need moisture in our skin.
Recommendation: Damn right! I absolutely love this product. I even included it in my best of 2017. So that definitely says something about this. I think oily skin, dry skin, sensitive, and normal skin will drink this up like water. The consistency is so beautiful. It is refreshing, and hydrating. While there is the inclusion of fragrance it is not something which irritates my skin. The price isn’t as up there as most of the products I love. It is only $45. So many places sell this product. Glow Recipe, Sephora… and more….
Try it out guys, I think many of you guys out there will love it. Well, I hope you do.
